Welcome to my new author site

Kieran13042okbn

Welcome to my new personal website! After a number of years of writing, training and speaking at conferences, I’ve decided the time is right to have a central place to showcase my work – my books, films, projects, talks and training sessions.

This site is the place to find me if you have a writing project you want to discuss with me, would like me to speak at your conference or do a training course with me. So please check out the books, talks and training pages and get in touch if you’d like me to write for you, come to your conference or train your teachers!

I’ll also be using this site as the place where I blog.

As part of the launch of the website I’m organising a prize draw for my new book Film in Action. Everybody who subscribes to the website in the months of February and March will be entered into the draw. You can subscribe at the bottom of the Home page.

Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you find the website useful.

    Dear Kieran,

Congratulations on your new website, which looks very nice. A friend of mine told me about your work last Spring and I have been following your posts. Do you use any video clips with language in them? So far I have only seen those without, which are thought provoking, but which don’t give the students specific language to work with/develop.
All the best with your new endeavour,

    Louise

Thanks very much for commenting and for the kind words. I do have lots of films with language in them; you’ll have to browse through the lessons and slect the ones you’d like to use..
      All the best,
      Kieran

  3. Kieran’s video-based activities are great, I’ve been using them with my students and they are always a great tool to make them talk. Although we can download the materials for free I’ve made my school (Institut Joan Brossa, Barcelona (Spain)) buy his book Film in Action so we can have it always at hand and because I think it’s the least we can do to support his great work.

      Hi Patricia,
Thanks very much for commenting and for the kind words. Thanks too for gwetting your school to buy Film in Action as the royalties I get from the book help to keep Film English free.
      All the best,
      Kieran

Congratulations on your new website! I have used Film English for years. However, I have used it in my French class! I have learned to adapt to the need of my students. Overall, I love the format, the lesson plans, the videos and the conversations (in French) that ensue.
Thank you for your creative work!

    Hi Kieran

I’ve been receiving your newsletter for two or three years and I can say that I am always surprised at the creativity and originality of your work.
The videos you pick are usually interesting and thought-provoking and the material (lessons, etc) is extremelly useful.
The thing that I appreciate the most is that I am NEVER disappointed with what you “come up with”, especially when I think of my students.

Thank you so much for sharing such brilliant, original ideas!
